Foundry Chemicals

I-FOUNDRY FLUXES

1- COVER FLUX

A covering and slagging-off flux for aluminium alloys.
Minimum temperature of use : 650 ºC
Recommended temperature of use : 690 - 760 ºC
At the end of melting, with the metal at the desired temperature, spread Cover Flux ( 0.2 % - 0.6 % of weight of metal contained ) on the slag and wait a few minutes. Mix at the surface. The mixing must be continued until the slag becomes powdery. Slag-off rapidly.

2- ZINC FLUX

Used for covering, slagging off and deoxidation of zinc die casting.
At the end of melting, spread Zinc Flux ( 0.2 % - 0.3 % of weight of metal contained ) on the slag and wait a few minutes. Mix at the surface. The mixing must be continued until the slag becomes powdery. Slag-off rapidly.

3- COPPER FLUX

Used for slagging off and protection of copper and copper alloys casting.
Copper and copper alloys are subject to oxidation during the melting process and liquid metal gets mixed into the slag. Using Copper Flux prevents oxidation and minimizes quantity of metal getting mixed.
At the end of melting, spread Copper Flux ( 0.1 % - 0.3 % of weight of metal contained ) on the slag and wait a few minutes. Mix at the surface. The mixing must be continued until the slag becomes powdery. Slag-off rapidly.

II-DEGASSING TABLETS

1- DEGAZER 200 – CHLORINE BASED DEGASSING TABLES

Degassing tablets serve to separate gas detached through diffusion from liquid metal and prevent oxidation.
Takes the form of white, 100 gr tablets .
Proportion: 0.1 % - 0.5 % of the weight of metal to be treated.
Recommended temperature of use : below 720 ºC
After melting and slagging-off , wait 5 minutes, dip the tablets into the bottom of the melted metal by using an immersion bell.

2- DEGAFFEX AE200 – NITROGEN BASED DEGASSING TABLETS

Used to remove dissolved hydrogen gas by diffusion process.
Takes the form of grey, 200 gr tablets.
Proportion: 0.2 % - 0.6 % of the weight of metal to be treated.
Recommended temperature of use : below 720 ºC.
After melting and slagging-off, dip the tablets into the bottom of the melted metal by using an immersion bell.
